While its lean-and-clean Mid-Century Modern character had stood the test of time, this West Seattle waterfront house (shown above pre-remodel), built in 1961, was ready for some this-century modernizing, including a spate of energy-smart updates, such as a gas-fired efficiency boiler, and material replacements, including the wood siding. A major re-do of its Sound-facing main terrace has brought brighter light and bigger views.
